Mobile IV Therapy at Home in Miami: What Actually Arrives, How It Works

Most patients who book a mobile IV with us have never had one delivered to their home before. The most common pre-visit question is some version of: what is actually going to happen in my living room?

This post is the walkthrough. From the moment you book online to the moment the RN packs up and leaves, here is exactly what mobile IV therapy looks like at home, hotel, or office in Miami.

Step 1: Booking

Book online at our mobile IV page or call our dispatch line. Booking takes about three minutes: name, address, contact number, preferred drip, and time window. Most appointments are confirmed within fifteen minutes.

Service area covers Surfside, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Aventura, North Miami, North Miami Beach, El Portal, Miami Shores, North Bay Village, Biscayne Park, Indian Creek, and most of Miami-Dade. For locations outside the standard zone we quote a travel surcharge before dispatch.

Step 2: The Intake Call

Within a few minutes of booking, a member of our team calls to confirm and collect the intake details a physician needs to review your order: any medications, allergies, prior IV reactions, current pregnancy or breastfeeding status, kidney or heart conditions, and what you are hoping to accomplish with the drip.

Your information is reviewed by an MD before the dispatch is approved. If your formula choice is not appropriate for your history (for example, magnesium-heavy formulas in patients with severe kidney disease), we will call you back to suggest an alternative.

Step 3: The RN Arrives

A Florida-licensed Registered Nurse arrives at your door within the booked window. They are in TrufaMED scrubs, carrying a clinical bag and an IV pole.

What's in the bag:

  • Pre-mixed IV bag (1 liter base of normal saline or lactated Ringer's, depending on formula)
  • Sterile IV start kit (catheter, tubing, dressings, alcohol prep, tourniquet)
  • Syringe-drawn additives for your specific formula (B-complex, magnesium, vitamin C, glutathione, etc.)
  • Vital signs equipment (blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermometer)
  • Emergency response kit (epinephrine, diphenhydramine, oxygen if appropriate)
  • Sharps container and biohazard disposal supplies

Step 4: Pre-IV Assessment

The RN takes vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, temperature) and reviews the intake checklist with you in person. They will ask you to confirm what you are seeking from the drip, identify any new symptoms since booking, and check for vein access in both arms.

If anything looks off (significantly elevated blood pressure, signs of a new acute illness, or anything that should be evaluated before an IV is started), the RN will call our on-call physician for a real-time decision. In practice this happens in roughly one out of fifty visits.

Step 5: Line Placement

Vein selection is usually the antecubital fossa (inside of the elbow) or a forearm vein. The site is cleaned with chlorhexidine or alcohol prep, the catheter is placed, and the line is taped down. Most patients describe the placement as a moderate pinch lasting a few seconds. We use small-gauge catheters by default for comfort.

Step 6: The Infusion

Drip duration varies by formula. Most wellness drips run 30 to 60 minutes; NAD+ runs three to four hours and is usually booked separately.

During the infusion you can sit, lie down, read, work, or watch a show. The RN remains on premises the entire time. They will check on you periodically, adjust the rate if needed, and answer questions. Most patients feel improvement within the first twenty minutes, particularly with hangover, hydration, and immune drips.

Step 7: Wrap-Up

Once the bag is empty, the RN flushes the line, removes the catheter, applies a small bandage, and observes you for several minutes. You are encouraged to drink water and eat lightly in the next hour. Most patients return to normal activities immediately; a few feel tired for an hour or two.

Total time from RN arrival to RN departure is typically 45 to 90 minutes for a standard wellness IV.

What If Something Goes Wrong

Adverse reactions to wellness IVs are uncommon. The most likely small issues are a brief bruise at the IV site, transient flushing during a vitamin C drip, a metallic taste from B-vitamins, or mild lightheadedness if the bag is run too fast. The RN slows or pauses the drip as needed.

Serious reactions (allergic reactions, vasovagal syncope) are rare. When they occur the RN is trained to respond with the emergency response kit. The on-call physician is always reachable by phone. In any clinically significant event we transfer to the nearest ER (Mount Sinai Miami Beach, HCA Aventura, Cleveland Clinic, or Jackson Memorial depending on location).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need anything ready before the RN arrives?

Just a comfortable place to sit or lie down with an outlet nearby (for the IV pump if used). You can be on the couch, in bed, at a desk, or in a chair by the pool. We have done mobile IVs in every setting in Miami.

Can I get a mobile IV at a hotel?

Yes, all major Miami Beach hotels and most short-term rentals. The RN will check in with the front desk on arrival when required.

Can I get a drip with my friend or partner at the same time?

Yes. Group bookings are common. The RN can run two drips simultaneously in the same room.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations are flexible up to two hours before the appointment. Same-day cancellations within the dispatch window are subject to a partial trip fee.
