Father's Day Gift Idea: A Concierge Medicine Membership in Miami

Father's Day gifts have a usability problem. The grill, the watch, the cologne, the leather goods — most of it sits unused after the second week. The exception is health: a gift that gives your dad faster access to a physician, fewer waiting rooms, and a sane handle on his own labs is a gift that compounds across years.

TrufaMED offers three concierge medicine tiers in Miami. This post is the gift-giver's guide: what is in each tier, what the year actually looks like as a member, and how to gift a membership cleanly.

What Concierge Medicine Is — And What Ours Is Not

Concierge medicine is a membership-based relationship with a small, capped patient panel. Instead of a fifteen-minute primary care visit and a six-week wait, a concierge member gets direct phone, text, and same-day appointment access to a physician who knows them by name.

TrufaMED's concierge program is built around the model we use in our Surfside clinic: urgent care + house call + concierge longitudinal access, with hospital escort and ER advocacy when needed. It is not a substitute for a multi-decade primary care relationship; for ongoing PCP cadence and screening schedules we coordinate with your existing PCP and your specialists. More on how that works.

The Three Tiers

VIP — the entry tier

Direct text-and-call access to a TrufaMED physician. Same-day or next-day appointments at our Surfside clinic. House calls included in the membership when clinically appropriate. Ideal for the dad who values quick access without needing daily contact.

Family Plus — for households

Everything in VIP, extended to a spouse and dependent children. Pediatric urgent care included. House calls cover the whole household. The standard choice for families that travel between Miami, the Northeast, and abroad.

Signature — the high-touch tier

Everything in Family Plus plus the highest-touch coordination: hospital escort, ER advocacy (a TrufaMED physician personally accompanies you to the ER and briefs the attending), annual deep-dive workup with imaging and full panel, and travel medical support. Membership is capped at eight families per year to preserve availability.

Pricing for each tier is reviewed individually with a member of our team. Annual memberships are priced for a calendar year with payment plans available.

What Year One Looks Like For A New Member

The first thirty days of a new concierge membership are dense:

  • Onboarding visit: review of full medical history, current medications, prior labs and imaging, family history, and goals for the year
  • Comprehensive lab panel and physical exam at our Surfside clinic
  • Direct phone, text, and after-hours line set up — you get the cell numbers of your concierge physicians
  • Coordination with your existing PCP, specialists, and pharmacies
  • Travel medical kit if applicable for international travel households

From month two onward the cadence is whatever the member needs. Some Signature members use the line twice a month for ongoing questions; others go quiet for three months and then need a same-day workup before a board trip to Europe. Both patterns are normal.

Why It Makes A Good Gift

Concierge memberships solve specific friction points in a healthy father's life:

  • He stops sitting in waiting rooms for twenty-minute appointments
  • He gets faster answers to small questions that otherwise get ignored
  • He has someone to call when traveling or on a yacht or at a foreign hotel
  • He gets a physician who knows his history before any acute event — an enormous advantage if anything unexpected happens
  • His family gets the same coverage if you gift the Family Plus tier

Most concierge members tell us in year two that the membership has paid for itself in avoided ER visits, faster recovery from minor illnesses, and better-coordinated specialist care. The Signature tier hospital escort alone is a service that few other Miami providers offer.

How To Actually Gift One

Email or call our concierge intake line. We arrange a confidential consultation with you (the gift-giver) and prepare a sealed envelope with a personal welcome letter from Dr. Gedalia, the membership tier details, and the onboarding visit booking link. Your dad receives the envelope; the onboarding happens at his convenience.

If he prefers to keep the gift quiet, we can also handle the introduction discreetly. Some adult children gift the membership and tell us their father is not to know they paid; we honor that arrangement and direct all administrative correspondence to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I gift a membership for just one year?

Yes. Memberships are annual. You can also choose to fund multi-year arrangements at a fixed rate.

Does my dad need to live in Miami?

Florida residency simplifies things, but we serve members who split time between Miami and other cities. Travel coverage is part of every tier.

What if he already has a primary care doctor?

We coordinate alongside, not in place of, his PCP. Concierge handles acute, urgent, and high-touch coordination; his PCP keeps the multi-decade screening cadence.

Is this a good gift for a healthy 60-year-old?

Especially for a healthy 60-year-old. The right time to start a concierge relationship is before you need one. Onboarding while healthy means we have a baseline if anything ever changes.
