Miami is a major destination for elective surgery: cosmetic, orthopedic, bariatric, and increasingly out-of-state medical tourism for procedures that are simply faster or less expensive here than at home. The patients I see most often in our HBOT and concierge programs are people who have made the surgical decision elsewhere and want a structured recovery plan that maximizes their healing time off work.
This post is the integrated package we build for those patients. It is a clinical framework, not a sales pitch — each element has a specific role in tissue healing, swelling reduction, infection prevention, and faster return to function.
The Foundation: Pre-Surgical Optimization
The post-surgical recovery starts before the surgery. Two weeks pre-op is the window where you can move the needle:
- Lab optimization: anemia correction, vitamin D repletion, omega-3 if low
- Nutritional protein adequacy: aim for 1 to 1.5 g/kg lean mass daily, with adequate caloric intake
- Hydration baseline established
- Sleep prioritization — cortisol regulation matters for tissue healing
- Smoking cessation: even brief cessation pre-op meaningfully improves wound healing
- Alcohol minimization: alcohol impairs collagen synthesis
- Pre-op IV: Myers’ Cocktail or Immune Boost the day before surgery
Our preventive care team runs the pre-surgical workup at our Surfside clinic or as a concierge in-home visit. We coordinate directly with your surgeon’s office to align.
Day 0 to Day 3: The Acute Window
Most patients are discharged from surgery on day 0 or day 1. The next 72 hours are the inflammation-management window:
- Mobile IV daily for the first 72 hours: hydration, anti-inflammatory adjunct, anti-emetic if needed, and high-dose vitamin C to support collagen synthesis. Our Pain Relief IV ($315) and our peri-operative formula are options here.
- Wound care monitoring — concierge house calls daily if clinically indicated
- Drain management coordination with your surgeon
- Pain medication management
- Lymphatic positioning and movement protocols where appropriate
Our physician house call service handles the in-home daily visits for patients who do not want to travel.
Day 4 to Day 14: Active Recovery
The first two weeks are where the integrated HBOT + IV cadence starts to matter:
- HBOT sessions 3 to 5 times per week. Standard pressure for post-surgical recovery is typically 1.5 to 2.0 ATA for 60 minutes per session. Dose and frequency are individualized based on the procedure.
- IV therapy 2 to 3 times per week alternating with HBOT days: Myers’ Cocktail, Immune Boost, or a physician-built recovery formula
- Lymphatic massage where indicated (we refer to vetted Miami practitioners)
- Gradual return-to-walking program
- Physician check-in at day 7 and day 14, in-clinic or in-home
Day 15 to Day 30: The Resolution Phase
Swelling resolves, energy returns, surgical sites continue to remodel:
- HBOT taper to 1 to 2 sessions per week
- IV cadence drops to weekly or biweekly
- Return to light exercise per surgeon clearance
- Final cosmetic and functional check-in
Why The Integration Matters
Patients often ask whether they can just book HBOT alone and IV alone at separate providers. They can — but the integration matters for three reasons:
- Sequencing: HBOT before IV or IV before HBOT changes the physiology slightly. Same-physician planning gets the sequence right.
- Vital signs trending: tracking blood pressure, heart rate, swelling, and pain across two weeks gives a much better recovery picture than isolated snapshots at separate providers.
- Escalation: if anything goes wrong (infection, hematoma, drain issue, suspected blood clot), having one practice that already knows your case can act in hours rather than days.
Concierge As The Wrapper
For high-touch recovery, our concierge program wraps around the package. Direct physician access via phone and text, in-home visits as needed, coordination with the surgeon, and hospital escort if anything requires hospital-level evaluation. Most cosmetic surgery recovery patients do not need the full Signature tier; the VIP or Family Plus tiers cover the typical recovery arc.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only treat patients whose surgery was done at TrufaMED?
No. We do not perform surgery on premises. Most of our post-surgical recovery patients have their procedures done elsewhere in Miami or out of state and come to us for recovery support.
How much does the full package cost?
Depends on the procedure and recovery duration. As a rough range, the 2-week intensive recovery package (daily IV first 3 days, HBOT 3-5x/week, in-home physician visits) runs $5,000 to $12,000 out-of-pocket. We provide an itemized estimate at the pre-surgical planning visit.
Does insurance cover any of this?
Depends on indication and procedure. Some post-surgical HBOT for FDA-approved indications is covered. Most cosmetic recovery is out-of-pocket. We provide itemized documentation for insurance submission.
Can I do this if I’m not a Miami resident?
Yes. Many of our recovery package patients are out-of-state. We coordinate hotel-based recovery with mobile IV and physician house calls. Several Miami Beach hotels are equipped for medical recovery stays.
