An emergency physician at the head of an urgent care

Dr. Shane D. Naidoo is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and the Medical Director of TrufaMED Urgent Care in Surfside, Florida. He holds an active Florida medical license (#ME160319) and brings deep expertise in adult and pediatric emergency medicine, trauma, and critical care to every part of the practice’s clinical operations.

Since 2020, when TrufaMED began as a concierge medicine service, Dr. Naidoo has cared for the practice’s patients across South Florida. Today he sets the clinical standards for urgent care, directs the protocols for IV therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and makes sure every visit reflects the standard of a top-tier emergency department.

Why it matters

The ER-trained eye, applied to everyday care

Emergency physicians spend their careers separating the serious from the routine, fast and accurately. That judgment is the quiet difference between a good urgent care visit and a missed warning sign.

Fast, accurate triage

The first job in any urgent care is to tell what can be treated and sent home from what needs to be escalated. It is the skill emergency physicians practice most, and the one patients rarely see.

Calm under acuity

Dr. Naidoo trained managing high-acuity patients in some of the busiest emergency departments in the country. That experience brings steady, decisive judgment to ordinary visits, not just dramatic ones.

The whole patient

An emergency background means looking past the obvious complaint for the thing behind it: the chest symptom that needs an EKG, the infection that needs a closer look, the detail that changes the plan.

Standards, set and held

As Medical Director, Dr. Naidoo writes the care protocols and supervises the clinical team, so the standard does not depend on which day you walk in.

Emergency medicine background

Built in high-volume emergency departments

Dr. Naidoo built his career in high-volume emergency departments across the East Coast. As a TeamHealth staff ER attending physician, he practiced at HMH JFK University Medical Center, Virtua Mount Holly Hospital, Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, HMH JFK Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Holy Name Medical Center, and within the Northern Light Health System.

Earlier, he served on TeamHealth’s Special Operations team as a traveling ER attending physician, managing 300 to 400 patients per month in rural emergency department settings. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, an urban Level II trauma center seeing roughly 110,000 emergency visits a year, with additional training at Maimonides Medical Center and the pediatric intensive care unit at SUNY Downstate. Training in some of the busiest departments in the country forged his ability to manage high-acuity patients under pressure.

In 2024, Dr. Naidoo received the Heart Saver Hero Award from the American Heart Association after performing life-saving CPR on a runner who went into cardiac arrest during a half-marathon. The rescue was featured by the Washington Post and on NBC Nightly News, drawing national attention to bystander intervention and emergency preparedness.
