Surgeon-led care

A surgeon at the head of everyday medicine

Dr. Uri Gedalia leads TrufaMED as Chief Medical Officer, overseeing physician-led urgent care, concierge medicine, IV therapy, digital X-ray, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Surfside, Florida. He is a board-certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and he brings decades of surgical, critical-care, and clinical-leadership experience to a clinic most people walk into for something ordinary.

That surgical background changes what happens in the room. A laceration is cleaned and closed with sterile technique. A wound is managed by a physician who treats wounds for a living. Conditions that many walk-in clinics refer out are evaluated and handled on site. Dr. Gedalia also serves as Regional Chief Medical Officer for Advantage Surgical and Wound Care, South Central Region, so advanced wound care sits at the center of the practice rather than at its edge.

Under his clinical leadership, TrufaMED earned Joint Commission accreditation, becoming Florida’s only Joint Commission-accredited urgent care and one of just eight nationwide. The same body that accredits major hospitals audits the protocols, medication safety, and infection control behind every visit here.

Background

Decades of surgery, research, and clinical leadership

Dr. Gedalia earned his Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical Center and completed his general surgical residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City. His career has spanned the operating room, critical care, and the leadership of clinical teams.

Alongside his clinical work, he has contributed to peer-reviewed research in biomechanics, abdominal wall reconstruction, bariatric surgery outcomes, trauma management, and pediatric vascular access. His published work has appeared in journals including Spine, the European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Injury, Seminars in Plastic Surgery, The American Surgeon, and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.

The TrufaMED concierge program began as a concierge medicine service in 2020, and Dr. Gedalia has cared for patients across South Florida ever since. Today he oversees every clinical service at the practice, from walk-in urgent care and concierge memberships to IV therapy, imaging, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Philosophy of care

How Dr. Gedalia practices

A surgeon’s discipline applied to accessible, everyday medicine: treat thoroughly, treat on site, and hold the whole clinic to one standard.

“A clinic should hold itself to the same standard as the operating room. That is the bar I set for every shift, every wound, and every patient who walks through the door.”

That standard is why TrufaMED is built as a full-service facility rather than a referral desk. With on-site digital X-ray, ultrasound, labs, and EKG, Dr. Gedalia’s team can evaluate, diagnose, and treat in a single visit. It is also why the practice pursued Joint Commission accreditation, a hospital-grade benchmark almost no urgent care holds. For patients, the result is care that is both more thorough and more convenient, delivered by physicians who do not hand off the hard parts.
