Specimen collection takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Rapid urine screen results are often available the same day. If confirmation testing at a certified reference laboratory is required, final results are typically available within 2 to 3 business days. We follow chain-of-custody handling throughout, so every result holds up where it needs to.

A standard 5-panel urine screen tests for marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, and PCP. A 10-panel adds benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, propoxyphene, and methaqualone. Expanded 12-panel and custom panels add substances based on employer or legal requirements. We can also arrange hair follicle testing for longer detection windows and oral fluid testing when urine collection is not practical.

A non-negative initial screen is not a final result. Standard practice, and our practice, is to send the specimen to a certified reference laboratory for confirmatory testing by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS), the laboratory standard for ruling out a false positive. A board-certified physician serving as Medical Review Officer reviews any confirmed result, including any valid prescription that explains it, before it is reported.

Walk-ins are welcome for most drug testing services, seven days a week. For employer-directed screens that require specific authorization paperwork, scheduling ahead lets us have your forms and chain-of-custody documents ready so the visit is quick. Yes. Every drug test at TrufaMED is conducted in a private clinical setting. Results are reported only to the authorized requesting party, whether that is your employer, your legal representative, or you personally. We follow HIPAA standards for handling sensitive health information, and personal testing carries no employer involvement or reporting.

Yes. Our on-site laboratory holds CLIA certification, the same standard required of hospital laboratories. TrufaMED is also Joint Commission accredited, the only urgent care in Florida with this distinction and one of just eight in the country. Testing is supervised by board-certified physicians who can interpret results and provide Medical Review Officer services when required.

Not without review. When a confirmed result could be explained by a legitimate prescription, our Medical Review Officer contacts you to verify it before anything is reported. A valid, current prescription documented to the MRO is recorded appropriately and is not reported as a violation. This is a core protection of physician-supervised testing.
