The quick answer

What is Rehydrate+?

Rehydrate+ delivers a full liter of Lactated Ringer’s solution, a balanced crystalloid carrying sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and lactate in proportions close to blood plasma. It is the upgraded version of our entry-level Rehydrate drip, which uses plain normal saline. Because Lactated Ringer’s restores several electrolytes at once and buffers blood pH, it is the choice clinicians prefer for fuller rehydration: athletic recovery, prolonged illness, heat exposure, post-procedure recovery, or any larger fluid deficit. About 30 to 45 minutes in our Surfside lounge, ordered by a board-certified physician.

Lactated Ringer’s vs normal saline

Why the carrier fluid matters

Not all IV fluids are equal. The bag your fluid arrives in changes what the infusion can actually replace, and Lactated Ringer’s is the more physiologically complete option.

Normal saline, used in our entry-level Rehydrate drip, is sodium chloride dissolved in water. It replaces fluid and sodium well and is one of the safest treatments in medicine, but it carries nothing else, and a large volume can nudge the blood slightly acidic. Lactated Ringer’s adds potassium, calcium, and lactate to that sodium and chloride. The lactate is metabolized by the liver into bicarbonate, which helps buffer blood pH and counteract the mild metabolic acidosis that can come with significant dehydration. The result is a fluid that more closely mirrors your own extracellular fluid, which is exactly why it is a standard-of-care choice for fluid resuscitation in hospitals and emergency departments.

The formula

What is inside Rehydrate+

A single, balanced electrolyte solution rather than saline plus add-ons. Lactated Ringer’s was designed to mirror plasma, so each component is there for a physiological reason.

Lactated Ringer’s solution

A balanced crystalloid carrying sodium, potassium, calcium, and lactate, formulated to closely mirror the ionic composition of human blood plasma. One full liter restores intravascular volume while replacing several electrolytes at once.

Sodium

The primary extracellular electrolyte, responsible for fluid balance, blood pressure regulation, and nerve impulse transmission throughout the body. It is the backbone of any effective hydration fluid.

Potassium

Essential for cardiac rhythm, muscle contraction, and cellular fluid balance, and commonly depleted through sweating, vomiting, and diarrhea. Saline does not contain it; Lactated Ringer’s does.

Calcium

Supports neuromuscular function, cardiac conduction, and cellular signaling. The calcium in Lactated Ringer’s helps maintain proper physiological balance during a fuller rehydration.

Lactate buffer

The liver converts lactate into bicarbonate, which helps neutralize the metabolic acidosis that can develop with significant dehydration or illness. This is what makes Lactated Ringer’s gentler on the body than pure saline.

Optional add-ons

Many patients layer vitamins, antioxidants, or amino acids onto a Rehydrate+ session. Your physician reviews your goals at intake. For the full B-complex and vitamin wellness stack built in, the Myers’ Cocktail is the better starting point.

What it delivers

Designed for a more complete recovery

When electrolyte losses have been significant, replacing fluid alone is not enough. Rehydrate+ restores the full spectrum at once, which is why it is the carrier clinicians prefer for harder recoveries.

More physiologically balanced

Lactated Ringer’s more closely mirrors human plasma than normal saline, which is why it is the preferred choice in clinical settings for fluid resuscitation and significant rehydration.

Multi-electrolyte replenishment

Simultaneously replaces sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride, addressing the full spectrum of electrolyte losses from intense exercise, illness, or heat exposure, not just fluid and sodium.

Supports cardiac and muscle function

The potassium and calcium in Lactated Ringer’s support healthy heart rhythm and muscle function, which matters most when electrolyte losses have been significant.

Reduces acidosis risk

The lactate buffer helps neutralize the metabolic acidosis that can develop with heavy dehydration or illness, making Rehydrate+ gentler on the body than a comparable volume of pure saline.

Your visit

What to expect, start to finish

Clinical intake

A brief evaluation confirms Lactated Ringer’s is the appropriate hydration choice for your situation and health profile, and a board-certified physician signs off before anything starts. Usually under five minutes.

IV placement

Settle into our comfortable, private treatment suite. A licensed provider places a small IV line quickly and comfortably, then starts the Lactated Ringer’s at a steady rate.

Infusion, about 30 to 45 minutes

One liter of Lactated Ringer’s infuses steadily while red light therapy runs alongside. Most patients notice improved energy and reduced symptoms well before the session ends.

Full restoration

Leave feeling rebalanced and fully hydrated, with no downtime. Rehydrate+ is particularly effective following intense exercise, illness, or travel, and you can resume normal activities right away.

Choosing your drip

When to choose Rehydrate+ over basic Rehydrate

The two drips share the same lounge, the same physician oversight, and the same fast infusion. The difference is the carrier fluid, and the right choice comes down to how hard you are recovering.

Rehydrate+ is the better fit for

  • Athletes recovering from intense training or an endurance event in the heat
  • Recovery from prolonged illness with vomiting or diarrhea, where several electrolytes are depleted
  • Extended sun and heavy sweat loss in the Miami climate
  • Post-procedure recovery and any larger fluid deficit
  • Anyone who wants the plasma-matched, multi-electrolyte option

The basic Rehydrate is enough when

  • You want fast, affordable hydration at the lowest price, which is the $200 saline drip
  • The fluid loss is mild to moderate rather than significant
  • You want the full vitamin wellness stack, where the Myers’ Cocktail fits better
  • Nausea and vomiting are the main issue, where the Food Poisoning IV is targeted
  • A physician evaluates you as needing urgent care rather than a wellness drip

IV therapy is provided following a medical evaluation and under physician oversight. It is not a substitute for emergency care. For a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Your physicians

A physician signs off on every drip

Choosing the right carrier fluid is a clinical decision. At TrufaMED every IV is reviewed and approved by a board-certified physician on shift before a licensed provider places the line.

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Uri Gedalia, MD, FACS
Board-Certified General Surgeon

Dr. Gedalia built TrufaMED around physician-led protocols, Joint Commission accreditation, and a standard of care usually reserved for hospital systems. He oversees the IV therapy program and approves the formulary, including the Lactated Ringer’s hydration drip.

Medical Director
Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, MD
Board-Certified Emergency Medicine

Dr. Naidoo directs clinical operations and supervises the nursing team. Fluid resuscitation and electrolyte correction are second nature from his emergency background, so he brings calm, decisive judgment to every Rehydrate+ order.

A board-certified physician leads every shift, seven days a week. This physician-first approach is why TrufaMED carries Joint Commission accreditation, a distinction held by only eight urgent care centers nationwide. Our lab operates under CLIA #10D2326945.

Rehydrate+ IV, answered

What patients across Miami ask most before choosing the Lactated Ringer’s drip.

What is the difference between Rehydrate and Rehydrate+?

Rehydrate uses normal saline, 0.9% sodium chloride, which supplies fluid and sodium, and is our entry-level hydration drip at $200. Rehydrate+ uses Lactated Ringer’s solution, a balanced crystalloid that adds potassium, calcium, and lactate to the sodium and chloride. That broader electrolyte profile, in proportions close to blood plasma, is why Rehydrate+ is the more complete option for significant electrolyte depletion. You can read the entry-level drip on our Rehydrate page.

Why is Lactated Ringer’s better than normal saline for full rehydration?

Normal saline is sodium chloride dissolved in water, so it replaces fluid and sodium but nothing else, and a large volume can nudge the blood slightly acidic. Lactated Ringer’s carries sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and lactate in concentrations that closely mirror the body’s own extracellular fluid. The lactate is metabolized by the liver into bicarbonate, which buffers blood pH. For a larger fluid deficit or multi-electrolyte loss, that balanced profile is gentler and more physiologically complete than saline alone.

When should I choose Rehydrate+ over the basic Rehydrate?

Choose Rehydrate+ when you need comprehensive electrolyte restoration, not just fluid: after prolonged illness with vomiting or diarrhea, hard athletic training or an endurance event, extended sun and heat exposure, post-procedure recovery, or any situation where several electrolytes may be depleted. If you simply want fast, affordable hydration, the basic Rehydrate is the right drip. Your physician reviews your symptoms at intake and recommends the carrier that fits.

Is Lactated Ringer’s solution safe?

Yes. Lactated Ringer’s is one of the most widely used IV fluids in hospitals and emergency departments worldwide, with a long safety record, and it is a standard-of-care fluid for rehydration and fluid resuscitation. At TrufaMED every infusion is reviewed and approved by a board-certified physician before a licensed provider places the line, and you are monitored throughout the session.

Who is Rehydrate+ best for?

It suits patients who need thorough rehydration: athletes recovering from intense training, anyone bouncing back from prolonged illness or a stomach bug, people managing heavy heat and sweat loss in the Miami sun, and patients recovering after a medical procedure. It is a favorite among athletes and wellness-focused patients across Surfside, Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, and the surrounding areas. For mild everyday dehydration, the basic Rehydrate is usually enough.

How quickly will I feel better after a Rehydrate+ IV?

Most patients notice improvement within 20 to 30 minutes as fluid and a full electrolyte blend reach the bloodstream directly. Energy, mental clarity, and the physical symptoms of dehydration typically ease well before the session is complete, and many patients feel fully rebalanced by the time the liter finishes.

How long does a Rehydrate+ session take?

About 30 to 45 minutes for one liter of Lactated Ringer’s, seated comfortably in our private IV lounge. Most patients are in and out within an hour, including the brief medical evaluation at the start. There is no downtime afterward, so you can resume normal activities right away. In-clinic sessions also include complimentary red light therapy alongside the drip.

Can I add vitamins or other nutrients to Rehydrate+?

Yes. Many patients layer additional vitamins, antioxidants, or amino acids onto a Rehydrate+ session. Your physician reviews your goals during the evaluation and helps you customize the drip. If you want the full wellness stack of B-complex, B12, vitamin C, magnesium, and calcium built in, the Myers’ Cocktail is the better starting point.

Is Rehydrate+ available mobile, and what does it cost?

Rehydrate+ is $225 in-clinic at our Surfside lounge. We also deliver it to your home, hotel, or office across South Florida by mobile visit, which adds a mobile fee of $50 to $150 based on priority and location, so call for an exact quote. Both options are physician-supervised. Rehydrate+ is self-pay; we accept all major cards, HSA and FSA, and Apple Pay, and provide receipts on request.
