Do not book telehealth for suspected heart attack, stroke symptoms (face droop, arm weakness, speech difficulty), severe trauma, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, or suspected overdose. These are emergencies — call 911.
Telehealth cannot perform a physical exam, give injections, draw blood, take X-rays or ultrasound, treat wounds or remove sutures, evaluate severe abdominal pain, work up a fever above 102°F, or manage moderate-to-severe pain. Walk in or book urgent care instead.
If you start telehealth and the physician decides an in-person visit is required, they will tell you directly and help coordinate same-day walk-in at our Surfside clinic.

This distinction is meaningful when the visit involves interpreting complex lab results, adjusting a medication that carries interaction risk, reviewing imaging ordered elsewhere, or deciding whether a symptom can be safely managed at home versus in the emergency department. These are judgment calls that benefit from a physician’s depth of training, not a protocol flowchart.

No. Florida and federal rules restrict the prescribing of controlled substances (Schedule II–V, including opioids, stimulants for ADHD, benzodiazepines) via telehealth without an in-person evaluation. If you need a controlled-substance medication we will ask you to come into the clinic.

Our physicians hold active Florida licensure and can see any patient physically located in Florida at the time of the visit. If you live out of state but will be in Florida, telehealth is available while you are here. The physician will order labs or imaging at the end of your visit. You can complete the draw in our Surfside clinic or at a partner lab, and we’ll review results with you in a follow-up telehealth call.
Yes. Pre-test eligibility and post-result review for our genetic-screening programs are ideal telehealth use cases. The sample collection itself is done in the clinic.
Most visits finish in 10 to 20 minutes. Complex results review or new-patient consults may run 25 to 30 minutes. Your slot reserves up to 30 minutes so there is no rush.
No. Jane generates a secure video link sent to your email. It opens directly in a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox). A phone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and microphone is all you need.
Jane is a HIPAA-compliant platform and all traffic is end-to-end encrypted. Sessions are not recorded. Charting, messaging, and payment are handled inside the same secured portal.

If your issue requires in-person care, our Surfside clinic is 10–20 minutes from most of these neighborhoods.
Telehealth is best for concerns that do not require a physical exam, lab draw, imaging, or procedure — such as prescription refills, minor acute symptoms, and results review. A walk-in urgent care visit at our Surfside clinic is appropriate when you need an X-ray, blood work, a throat swab, wound care, or IV fluids. Both are staffed by board-certified MDs. If you start telehealth and the physician determines in-person care is needed, they will help coordinate same-day walk-in at no additional telehealth charge for the referral decision.
