Urgent care for Aventura

A calmer choice than the ER, minutes away

For Aventura families, a sudden fever, a sprained ankle, or a child’s earache rarely needs the Aventura Hospital emergency room. TrufaMED is a physician-led walk-in clinic about fifteen minutes south in Surfside, with on-site digital X-ray, lab testing, ultrasound, and IV therapy in a single visit. Joint Commission accredited, open seven days a week, and built for non-life-threatening care that the ER would make slower and far more expensive.

Aventura residents, Aventura Mall visitors, and office tenants along Biscayne Boulevard reach us at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside, nine miles south. A full visit, meaning a board-certified physician evaluation with imaging or labs if you need them and medication in hand, typically takes twenty to forty-five minutes. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and the team speaks eight languages for Aventura’s large international and Latin American community. See everything urgent care covers.

Getting here from Aventura

Two easy routes south to Surfside

TrufaMED sits at 9445 Harding Avenue, a short, mostly straight drive from anywhere in Aventura. Pick the route that suits the time of day, and you can usually be in an exam room within the hour.

The causeway route

Take the William Lehman Causeway west to Collins Avenue, then head south. Collins becomes Harding Avenue as you cross into Surfside, and we are on the east side at 94th Street. This is the simplest route for most of Aventura, with a typical drive of fourteen to eighteen minutes depending on Miami Beach season traffic.

The inland route

If Collins is backed up, take I-95 south to the 826 causeway, then Biscayne Boulevard (US-1) south to 96th Street and head east. It often saves time during afternoon beach traffic. Metered street parking is available on Harding Avenue and the side streets, with accessible parking directly in front of the entrance.

Everything in one visit

Full-spectrum urgent care under one roof

TrufaMED handles the range of problems that once meant an ER trip or a multi-day wait for a primary-care slot. One visit: physician evaluation, imaging and labs if needed, and prescriptions in hand before you leave.

Illness and infection

Flu, strep throat, sinus infections, bronchitis, ear infections, and UTIs. Tested, diagnosed, and treated in a single visit.

Injury and sports

Sprains, fractures, lacerations and stitches, and musculoskeletal pain, with on-site digital X-ray read in minutes.

Pediatric urgent care

Children three months and up: fever, ear infections, pink eye, stomach bugs, asthma flares, and minor injuries, with a board-certified physician, not a retail clinic.

Eye, skin, and allergy

Pink eye, rashes, insect bites, allergic reactions, asthma flares, and wound care. Seen, treated, and prescribed the same day.

IV hydration and medical IV

Physician-supervised IV fluids for dehydration, heat illness, and post-viral recovery. An elective wellness IV therapy menu is available separately.

Imaging, labs, and paperwork

Digital X-ray, ultrasound, rapid respiratory panels, CBC, CMP, urinalysis, plus sports physicals, DOT exams, and immigration physicals. See testing services.

Urgent care or the ER

When to skip the emergency room

A big hospital ER is the right place for true emergencies, and the wrong place for almost everything else. Aventura Hospital’s emergency department means long waits and large bills for problems urgent care can settle quickly. Here is the simple rule.

Who we see from Aventura

Built around how Aventura lives

Aventura is one of South Florida’s most international, family-heavy, and time-pressed communities. Our Aventura-area patients run the full range, and the visit is built around their expectations rather than a retail-chain efficiency metric.

Families and children

Parents from Williams Island to the Biscayne towers who want a board-certified physician for a child’s fever, earache, or sports physical, in a quiet setting rather than a crowded ER.

Tower and condo residents

Residents along Country Club Drive, Turnberry, and Porto Vita who want a physician-level visit without navigating a large hospital for a routine problem.

Professionals and executives

People working at Aventura Corporate Center and Biscayne Landing who need a same-day illness or injury evaluation, sometimes before a flight, with no day lost to a waiting room.

Visitors and snowbirds

Aventura Mall shoppers, tourists, and seasonal residents who get sick on a trip. Out-of-state plans are often processable, and self-pay is straightforward with published pricing.

For patients used to a concierge standard, the feel is closer to a boutique practice than a typical urgent care. The waiting room is quiet, the rooms are private, and the physician sits down. Aventura families who want that experience every day can also explore a concierge membership for Aventura, with direct physician access and house calls.

What a visit looks like

Walk in, see the physician, head home

Most Aventura patients are in and out in twenty to forty-five minutes. The visit is deliberately structured: no assembly line, no bouncing between rooms, no waiting on a physician who is three patients behind.

Pre-check-in online

Reserve an arrival slot and capture your insurance in about two minutes before you leave Aventura, so your time at the front desk is short.

Quick intake

Vitals and a brief nursing intake on arrival, with insurance and copay confirmed up front so there are no surprises at the end.

Physician evaluation

A board-certified physician examines you, orders any imaging or labs on-site, and reads the results the same visit rather than days later.

Treat and go home

IV fluids or medications placed bedside if indicated, prescriptions sent to your pharmacy before discharge, and written instructions in every chart.

Conditions we treat

Same-day care for everything non-emergency

From a sudden fever to a suspected sprain, with a physician, on-site diagnostics, and results read the same visit.

Transparent self-pay

Clear pricing, no surprise bills

No insurance? A self-pay visit starts at $195 for a physician evaluation, with add-ons priced up front, so you always know what to expect before you are seen. It is a fraction of an ER bill for the same care.

Why Aventura drives down

Why Aventura residents choose TrufaMED

There is no shortage of urgent-care signage in North Miami-Dade. There is a shortage of urgent care where a physician actually evaluates you, where imaging and labs are read the same visit, and where the experience is calm rather than harried.

Joint Commission accredited

Florida’s only Joint Commission-accredited urgent care, one of just eight nationwide. The same body that accredits hospitals audits our safety, infection control, and clinical protocols.

Physician-led every shift

A board-certified physician leads every shift and is involved in your care. Dr. Shane Naidoo (Emergency Medicine) and Dr. Uri Gedalia (General Surgery, FACS) lead the team.

Eight languages spoken

English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, French, Russian, and more, for Aventura’s large international, Brazilian, and Latin American community.

Boutique, not franchise

Private rooms, a calm waiting area, and a physician who sits down. The setting is built around an Aventura and Bal Harbour expectation, not a retail metric.

Open every day, late on weekends

Monday through Friday 9 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM, Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM. Eighty-four staffed hours a week of physician-led walk-in care.

Imaging, labs, and IV on-site

Digital X-ray, ultrasound, rapid panels, CBC, CMP, urinalysis, and IV therapy under one roof, with results read the same visit. No referral needed.

Meet the physicians

Led by board-certified physicians

Our clinical leadership brings hospital-grade training in emergency medicine and surgery to a boutique walk-in setting minutes from Aventura.

Medical Director
Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, MD
Board-Certified Emergency Medicine

Dr. Naidoo leads the clinical team as Medical Director. Board-certified in emergency medicine with deep experience in adult and pediatric emergency care, trauma, and critical care from high-volume departments. That background means Aventura patients get a physician who has handled the most acute situations and brings calm, decisive judgment to every visit.

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Uri Gedalia, MD, FACS
Board-Certified General Surgeon · Fellow, American College of Surgeons

Dr. Gedalia is TrufaMED’s Chief Medical Officer and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Board-certified in general surgery with extensive experience in procedural medicine, wound care, and advanced diagnostics, he oversees clinical protocols across every TrufaMED service, so what would require a specialist referral elsewhere can often be handled here.

This physician-first approach is part of why TrufaMED carries Joint Commission accreditation, a distinction held by only about eight urgent care centers in the United States. It is the same independent standard applied to major hospitals.

Meet the full clinical team

Urgent care near Aventura, answered

The questions Aventura and Turnberry-area patients ask our front desk most.

How far is TrufaMED from Aventura?

About fourteen minutes by car in normal traffic. From Aventura you take the William Lehman Causeway west to Collins Avenue, then head south. Collins becomes Harding Avenue as you cross into Surfside, and we are on the east side at 94th Street. An alternate route is I-95 south to the 826 causeway and Biscayne Boulevard (US-1) south, which can save time during afternoon beach traffic. We are nine miles south of Aventura Mall.

Is TrufaMED a good alternative to the Aventura Hospital emergency room?

For non-life-threatening problems, yes. Sore throats, sinus infections, UTIs, sprains, stitches, the flu, minor fractures, and a child’s fever that needs a same-day look are all faster, quieter, and far less expensive at urgent care than at an ER. Save the emergency department for chest pain, stroke symptoms, major trauma, severe allergic reactions, or uncontrolled bleeding, and call 911 if it is severe. We triage at the door and escalate to the ER ourselves when the exam warrants it.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

Yes. Walk-in care is available seven days a week during all open hours. Many Aventura patients also pre-register online to reserve an arrival slot, which takes about two minutes and trims the time at the front desk. Most pre-registered patients are seen within minutes of arriving.

How much does an urgent care visit cost without insurance?

A self-pay physician visit starts at $195. Common add-ons start from: digital X-ray $120, EKG $110, and a rapid strep or flu test $60. Final cost depends on the services you need, and the front desk shares pricing up front with no surprise billing. The full self-pay sheet is on our self-pay pricing page.

What insurance do you accept?

Most major commercial and federal plans are in-network, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Oscar Health, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage. The front desk verifies your benefits at check-in and explains your copay before treatment begins. Self-pay patients are welcome with transparent, published pricing. If your plan is not listed, call ahead and we will verify eligibility before you drive down.

Can my child be seen at TrufaMED?

Yes. We see children three months and up every day. Pediatric urgent care covers fever, ear infections, pink eye, stomach bugs, rashes, asthma flares, minor injuries, and sports physicals, with a board-certified physician rather than a retail clinic. Infants under three months with concerning symptoms are evaluated and, when warranted, referred to pediatric emergency care.

Do you have X-ray and lab testing on-site?

Yes. Our digital X-ray reads in minutes for suspected fractures, pneumonia, and soft-tissue injuries. The on-site CLIA-certified lab runs rapid strep, flu, COVID, and RSV, along with CBC, metabolic panels, urinalysis, and pregnancy testing. Point-of-care ultrasound is available bedside for abdominal, soft-tissue, and vascular questions. Everything is read the same visit, which is why most visits finish in well under an hour.

Who will see me at TrufaMED?

A board-certified physician leads every shift and is involved in your care, supported by experienced nurses. Our Medical Director is Dr. Shane D. Naidoo (Emergency Medicine) and our Chief Medical Officer is Dr. Uri Gedalia (General Surgery, FACS). That physician-led standard is part of why TrufaMED holds Joint Commission accreditation, the same independent review applied to major hospitals.

How long is a typical visit?

Most Aventura-area patients are in and out in twenty to forty-five minutes. A simple illness visit with no imaging runs shorter; a visit with X-ray, multiple labs, and an IV takes a little longer. We prioritize a real physician evaluation over assembly-line throughput, but we do not drag visits out.

Do you do sports physicals, DOT, and immigration exams?

Yes. Same-day sports physicals for school and youth-league clearance, DOT physicals for commercial-driver certification, and immigration physicals (I-693) for USCIS applicants. Most are completed in a single visit. Each has its own paperwork workflow, so call ahead if you are on a deadline.

I am visiting Aventura on vacation. Can I be seen?

Absolutely. Short-term visitors, tourists, snowbirds, and Aventura Mall shoppers are a real share of our visits. Bring your insurance card if you have one, since many out-of-state plans are processable. Self-pay is straightforward with published pricing, and our front desk handles international self-pay receipts that most foreign insurers reimburse against.
