Quick Answer

Where can Sunny Isles residents walk in for urgent care?

TrufaMED at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside is the closest physician-staffed urgent care to Sunny Isles Beach — a ten-minute drive south on Collins Avenue or Harding Avenue. Walk in seven days a week with no appointment. Every visit is led by a board-certified physician, not a non-physician provider.

Featured Answer

Sunny Isles residents, hotel guests, and residence owners drive ten minutes to TrufaMED in Surfside because a licensed physician is on shift every hour we are open. On-site digital X-ray, full lab draw capability, ultrasound, and in-clinic IV therapy finish most visits in a single appointment — without a trip to an emergency department, and without waiting for outside labs to resolve.

Luxury Urgent Care

Why Sunny Isles Residents Drive Ten Minutes South

Sunny Isles Beach is a vertical city of luxury high-rises, global residents, and tourists who expect private-practice quality without the booking friction. TrufaMED is built for exactly that demographic — a boutique clinic where a physician examines you, not a medical assistant, and every ancillary service is already inside the building.

Acqualina, Trump, Porsche, Armani — Concierge-Grade Care

Residents of the Acqualina Resort, the Trump Towers trio, Porsche Design Tower, Armani Residences, Mansions at Acqualina, Jade Beach, Jade Ocean, Muse, Chateau Beach, and Estates at Acqualina expect the kind of medical experience they are accustomed to at home — quiet waiting rooms, senior physicians, no assembly-line check-in, and no surprise billing. TrufaMED was designed around that standard. The waiting area rarely holds more than a handful of patients. Intake is handled quickly and privately. A physician examines every patient. When follow-up care is needed, our team coordinates directly with your primary physician, your concierge desk, or your family office.

Eight Languages, International Patients Welcome

Our clinical team speaks English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Italian, French, and Creole. That coverage matches the Sunny Isles population, which is heavily Russian, Latin American, Israeli, and European. Medical information is translated accurately — not through a phone-line interpreter, but by a staff member who speaks with you directly. This matters when a patient is stressed, when symptoms are complex, or when a family member needs to explain history.

Discretion as a Clinical Standard

Privacy is not an amenity; it is a condition of care for our patient population. Records are not shared without explicit consent. Insurance information is kept separate from billing conversations when patients prefer self-pay. No posts, no photos, no disclosed patient names to anyone — including staff at the luxury properties we serve. If you prefer that we never contact you by phone, we never do. If you prefer an after-hours follow-up by secure message, we can do that. These preferences are documented on first visit and respected on every subsequent visit.

Short Distance. Fast Physician-Level Answers.

The combination of geography, clinical staffing, and diagnostic capability is why Sunny Isles patients drive to us rather than attempt to navigate a broader Miami urgent care network. Ten minutes south on A1A or Collins Avenue, including rush hour, is meaningfully faster than the round-trip to a hospital-affiliated urgent care in Aventura, and enormously faster than an emergency department visit for a non-emergency complaint.

What We Treat

Conditions We Handle Same Visit

A physician examines, diagnoses, and treats the great majority of conditions on this list in a single walk-in appointment — including the bloodwork, imaging, or IV therapy the treatment requires.

For chronic conditions or ongoing management, see our Sunny Isles concierge membership. For elective IV therapy unrelated to illness — hangover recovery, immune support, post-flight hydration — see Sunny Isles IV therapy.

Travel & Tourism

Post-Flight Care & Hotel Concierge Coordination

Sunny Isles is a gateway for international residents and visitors. The combination of long-haul flights, climate change, and a busy first 48 hours in town creates predictable medical needs — ones our physicians see every day.

Post-Flight Dehydration

Ten to fourteen hours in a pressurized cabin leaves most travelers clinically dehydrated. A physician-supervised IV with Lactated Ringers or normal saline resolves headache, fatigue, and dry mucous membranes in about an hour.

Sun & Heat Illness

Early heat exhaustion — nausea, headache, muscle cramps — is common in guests who come from colder climates. Active cooling, IV fluids, and electrolyte monitoring prevent progression to heat stroke, which is an ER-level emergency.

GI Illness & Food Poisoning

A change in diet, water, and time zone lands travelers in our clinic with vomiting, diarrhea, and cramping. Ondansetron, targeted IV fluids, and a focused exam distinguish self-limited gastroenteritis from something that needs escalation.

Prescription Continuity

Lost, forgotten, or expired prescriptions are a common reason for a same-day visit. Our physicians verify, examine, and bridge-prescribe when appropriate — including controlled substances within standard refill rules.

Allergy & Insect Reactions

New environment, new allergens. Everything from tree-pollen sinus misery to a jellyfish sting can be handled same visit. Epinephrine, IV steroids, and antihistamines for moderate reactions; ER transfer for anaphylaxis.

Hotel & Residence Concierge

Our team is experienced working alongside the concierge teams at Acqualina, Trump Towers, Porsche Design, Armani, and the major Sunny Isles residences. If your concierge calls for you, we reserve your slot and streamline intake.

Capabilities

What We Can Finish In a Single Visit

Every capability below is physically on-site at 9445 Harding Avenue. No split visits. No referrals across town. No waiting three days for an outside lab.

Capability On-Site Detail Time to Result
Physician exam Board-certified MD on shift every hour. Dr. Uri Gedalia, General Surgery. Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, Emergency Medicine. On arrival
Digital X-ray On-site, in-house radiology read within the clinic. No outside imaging center. ~15 minutes
Ultrasound Point-of-care musculoskeletal, soft-tissue, abdominal ultrasound. Same visit
Lab draw Joint Commission–accredited, CLIA-certified lab . CBC, CMP, inflammatory markers, cultures, urine, strep, flu, RSV, COVID, STI. 5 to 30 minutes
IV therapy Medical IV (covered by insurance when indicated) plus elective wellness drips on the same pump. 45 to 90 minutes
Laceration repair Sterile suturing, Dermabond, staples where appropriate. Pediatric through adult. Typically <45 min
Casting & splinting Post-X-ray splints, short-arm and short-leg casts for non-displaced fractures. Same visit
Prescriptions Electronic prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, including Bal Harbour Publix, CVS at Sunny Isles Plaza, and 24-hour Walgreens. On discharge

If the clinical picture on arrival already points to an emergency — chest pain with concerning features, severe headache with neurologic change, suspected stroke or cardiac event — we stabilize and transfer directly to Mount Sinai or Aventura Hospital. This is infrequent. The great majority of urgent care visits are resolved in the clinic.

Physician-Led

A Licensed Physician Examines You

Every TrufaMED visit is led by a board-certified physician. This is not a standard the urgent care industry promises. It is the reason Sunny Isles patients come to us rather than the closer walk-in storefronts.

Dr. Uri Gedalia, MD — Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Gedalia is a board-certified General Surgeon. He designed the clinical protocols, the diagnostic workflow, and the staffing model. He continues to practice clinically on-site. Learn more on his physician bio page.

Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, MD — Medical Director

Dr. Naidoo is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician. He runs the clinical floor day to day, supervises the medical staff, and handles the highest-acuity cases that walk in from Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, and Miami Beach. His bio is on our physicians page.

Why This Model Matters

An urgent care is legally allowed to operate with a non-physician provider leading every patient visit. Many chains do exactly that, calling it “provider staffing.” The clinical judgment behind a decision — whether a chest complaint is musculoskeletal or cardiac, whether an abdominal pain is surgical, whether a headache warrants imaging — is where years of physician training matter most. TrufaMED’s model eliminates that risk.

Accreditation, Not Advertising

Joint Commission accreditation is earned by passing the same audit standards that accredit hospitals — sterile technique, medication safety, infection control, credentialing, clinical documentation, and continuous improvement. Florida has one Joint Commission-accredited urgent care; we are it. We are also one of eight accredited urgent cares nationwide. For residents of Sunny Isles luxury towers who are accustomed to hospital-grade standards, this is the shortest explanation of the difference.

ER vs Urgent Care

When to Skip Urgent Care and Go Directly to the ER

Most problems are urgent-care level. Some are not. The findings below are reasons to bypass us and go directly to Mount Sinai, Aventura Hospital, or call 911.

Go to the ER or call 911 for:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness — especially with shortness of breath, arm pain, or sweating
  • Sudden neurological change — facial droop, weakness on one side, speech difficulty, severe confusion
  • Severe shortness of breath at rest or with minimal exertion
  • Head injury with loss of consciousness, vomiting, or confusion
  • Heavy bleeding that does not stop with pressure
  • Severe abdominal pain with guarding, rigidity, or rebound
  • Suspected stroke, heart attack, or pulmonary embolism
  • Active seizure, or first-ever seizure

If you are unsure, walk in. We triage on arrival. If the findings warrant the ER, we stabilize and arrange transfer. The cost of a same-day physician evaluation is worth it when the alternative is missing a surgical abdomen or a cardiac event.

Frequently Asked

Sunny Isles Urgent Care Questions

The questions our team answers most often when Sunny Isles residents, residence owners, and hotel guests call ahead or arrive.

  • What is the closest urgent care to Sunny Isles Beach?
TrufaMED at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside is the closest physician-led urgent care to Sunny Isles Beach. The drive is roughly ten minutes south on Collins Avenue, A1A, or Harding Avenue, depending on traffic. Our front door is accessible from the same corridor as the Sunny Isles luxury towers, Acqualina Resort, Trump Towers, Porsche Design Tower, and the Armani Residences. Every visit is led by a board-certified physician, and most patients are evaluated and treated in a single walk-in appointment.
  • Do you speak Russian or Spanish?
Yes. Our clinical team speaks eight languages daily — English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Italian, French, and Creole. Russian-speaking patients from the Sunny Isles high-rises, and Spanish-speaking patients from Latin American households, are handled by a staff member who speaks directly in your language rather than through a translation line. This includes history-taking, physical exam explanation, medication instructions, and discharge planning.
  • Can my Acqualina, Trump, or Armani concierge make a reservation for me?
Yes. We regularly coordinate with the concierge desks at Acqualina, the Trump Towers trio, Porsche Design Tower, Armani Residences, Jade Beach, Jade Ocean, Mansions at Acqualina, and other luxury properties. Your concierge can call ahead to reserve your slot, confirm physician availability, or arrange transportation coordination. Front-desk teams at our partner buildings have our direct line.
  • Is TrufaMED a walk-in, or do I need an appointment?
Walk-in. Seven days a week. No appointment is required. You can also use our online patient portal to reserve your place in line, which cuts down waiting room time significantly. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM.
  • Do you accept international insurance?
Our front desk processes most major US insurance plans directly. For international insurance — Cigna Global, BUPA, Allianz, AXA, GeoBlue, IMG, and others — we provide an itemized medical report in English at discharge that can be submitted to your insurer for reimbursement. Many Sunny Isles residents pay self-pay at time of visit and then file the claim abroad. We quote self-pay pricing transparently up front.
  • Can I get IV fluids after a long flight?
Yes. In-clinic IV therapy is available every day we are open. For medical dehydration — vomiting, heat illness, or post-viral — it is typically covered by most insurance as part of a standard urgent care visit. For elective post-flight hydration or wellness drips (Myers’ Cocktail, NAD+, Hangover Recovery), pricing is transparent and cash-pay. See our Sunny Isles IV therapy page for the full elective menu.
  • Can my child be seen there?
Yes. We see pediatric patients ages 3 months and older routinely. Common pediatric visits include fever, ear infection, strep throat, stomach flu, rashes, minor injuries, and sports injuries. Our physicians have a low threshold for escalating very young infants (under 3 months) to pediatric emergency services when illness severity warrants it. See our pediatric urgent care page for the full scope.
  • What if I need an X-ray or bloodwork?
Both are on-site. Digital X-ray is in-house and results read within the clinic in approximately fifteen minutes. Our Joint Commission–accredited, CLIA-certified lab runs CBC, metabolic panels, inflammatory markers, urine studies, strep, flu, RSV, COVID-19, and sexually transmitted infection panels, with most results in five to thirty minutes. The single-visit model is the clinical advantage — diagnosis, imaging, labs, IV therapy, and prescription can all be finished before you leave.
  • How private is my visit?
Discretion is treated as a clinical standard. Quiet waiting area, private intake, records never shared without your explicit consent, and no communication with third parties — including your building’s concierge — without permission. Many of our Sunny Isles patients choose self-pay specifically to keep the visit separate from their insurance. We honor that preference without friction.
  • Can I get prescriptions refilled, including a bridge refill from my home country?
Yes, within standard clinical judgment. Our physicians can bridge-prescribe most non-controlled medications after an in-person examination confirms the underlying condition. For controlled substances, we follow standard DEA and Florida refill rules. Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice — Bal Harbour Publix, the CVS at Sunny Isles Plaza, 24-hour Walgreens, or any pharmacy you prefer.
  • Can TrufaMED come to my residence instead of me coming to the clinic?
For elective IV therapy, yes — we offer mobile IV in Sunny Isles with a clinician dispatched to your residence or hotel. For a full urgent care visit requiring imaging, bloodwork, or a procedure, the clinic is the right setting. Residents who want on-site physician access for ongoing care should ask about our Sunny Isles concierge medicine membership, which includes physician house calls.
  • How much does a visit cost if I pay cash?
Self-pay pricing is quoted transparently at check-in and depends on what the visit includes. A standard physician visit, a visit with imaging, a visit with labs, or a visit with IV therapy each have a published rate. Our full self-pay guide lists everything openly. No surprise billing; no balance-billing weeks later.
