Quick Answer

Is there a good urgent care near Brickell?

TrufaMED is a boutique physician-led urgent care roughly fourteen minutes south of Brickell on Collins Avenue or via I-95 plus the 826 causeway. Walk-in, seven days a week, with on-site X-ray, labs, ultrasound, and IV therapy — a measured alternative to an ER visit for non-emergency illness or injury.

Featured Answer

Brickell residents, Brickell Mall shoppers, and Biscayne Landing office tenants drive down Collins or hop on I-95 to reach TrufaMED at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside. A full urgent care visit — board-certified physician evaluation, imaging or labs if needed, medication in hand — typically takes twenty to forty-five minutes. Most commercial insurance plans are accepted.

Brickell Context

A Short Drive South from Brickell

TrufaMED sits at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside — a straight fourteen-minute drive from most of Brickell. For residents of Turnberry Isle, Porto Vita, Williams Island, Biscayne Landing, and the Brickell Mall corridor, we are often a faster same-day option than waiting for a primary-care slot or sitting in an emergency department for a non-emergency issue.

Driving from Brickell

Two routes work well. Collins Avenue south is the scenic beach route — Collins becomes Harding Avenue as you cross into Surfside, and we are on the east side at 94th Street. Typical drive time is fourteen to eighteen minutes depending on Miami Beach season traffic. I-95 south to the 826 causeway, then Biscayne Boulevard (US-1) south to 96th Street east is the alternate if Collins is backed up. Parking is available at our building and on neighboring streets.

Who Walks In From Brickell

Our Brickell-area patient mix runs the full spectrum. Tower-residence condo owners on Country Club Drive and Williams Island who want a physician-level visit without navigating Brickell Hospital. Executives and professionals working at Brickell Corporate Center or Biscayne Landing who need a same-day sports-injury or illness evaluation before flying out. Brickell Mall shoppers, tourists, and snowbirds staying at local short-term rentals who get sick on a trip. Parents who need a pediatric urgent-care visit with a board-certified physician rather than a retail clinic.

Alternative to Brickell Hospital ER

An emergency department is the correct choice for chest pain, signs of stroke, major trauma, severe allergic reaction, uncontrolled bleeding, or altered mental status. For everything else — the sprains, the stitches, the sore throats, the sinus infections, the UTIs, the sports-physical paperwork, the flu, the pediatric fever that needs a same-day look — a good urgent care is faster, quieter, and far less expensive. Our physicians triage at the door and escalate to ER when the findings warrant it.

What A Visit Looks Like

Walk In, Physician Seen, Out the Door

Most Brickell patients are in and out in twenty to forty-five minutes. The visit is deliberately structured — no assembly-line throughput, no bouncing between rooms, no waiting for a physician who is three patients behind.

  • Online pre-check-in to reserve your arrival slot
  • Front desk verifies insurance & copay in advance
  • Vitals and brief nursing intake on arrival
  • Board-certified physician exam every single visit
  • On-site digital X-ray when injury suggests imaging
  • On-site labs read in minutes, not days
  • Ultrasound for gallbladder, kidney, soft-tissue questions
  • IV fluids or anti-emetics placed bedside if indicated
  • Prescriptions sent to your pharmacy before discharge
  • Written discharge instructions in every chart

For patients accustomed to a concierge standard, the feel is closer to a boutique medical practice than to a traditional urgent care. The waiting room is quiet. Rooms are private. The physician sits down. Nothing is rushed — but nothing takes longer than it should. Our goal is the shortest door-to-diagnosis time that a real medical exam allows.

Why Brickell Residents Drive to Surfside

When ER Not UC

When to Go to the Emergency Department Instead

Urgent care handles most non-life-threatening illness and injury. A handful of symptoms belong at an ER — Brickell Hospital or the nearest emergency department on Collins — because the workup required is beyond any urgent care’s scope.

Go to the ER or call 911 if:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness lasting more than a few minutes
  • Sudden weakness, facial droop, slurred speech, or stroke symptoms
  • Severe shortness of breath or bluish lips or fingers
  • Major trauma, head injury with loss of consciousness, or suspected fracture of the spine, pelvis, or hip
  • Severe allergic reaction with throat tightening or difficulty breathing
  • Vomiting blood, passing black or bloody stool, or uncontrolled bleeding
  • Suicidal ideation or psychiatric emergency
  • Infant under three months with high fever or severe dehydration

When the picture is unclear, start with us. We triage at the door, escalate to the ER when the exam warrants it, and stabilize in the meantime. The cost of a same-day physician evaluation is small compared to the risk of driving past a real emergency.

Frequently Asked

Urgent Care in Brickell Questions

The questions Brickell and Turnberry-area patients ask our front desk most often.

  • How far is TrufaMED from Brickell Mall?
Roughly fourteen minutes by car in typical traffic. Brickell Mall is at the north end of Biscayne Boulevard; TrufaMED is at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside, nine miles south. The most direct route is Collins Avenue south — Collins becomes Harding as it enters Surfside. An alternate is I-95 south to the 826 causeway and Biscayne Boulevard (US-1) south, which can save time during afternoon beach traffic.
  • Do you have parking or is it street-parking only?
There is metered street parking on Harding Avenue and on the side streets adjacent to the building. Most visits are short enough that a single meter feed covers the appointment. Handicap-accessible parking is available directly in front of the entrance. For patients arriving from farther away, ride-share drop-off is easiest.
  • Can I walk in without an appointment?
Yes. Walk-in care is available seven days a week during all operating hours. Many patients also use our online self-registration to reserve an arrival slot, which reduces wait time on arrival. Pre-registration takes about two minutes.
  • What are your hours?
Monday through Friday 9 AM to 9 PM. Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM. Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM. We are open every day of the year including most holidays. For after-hours concerns, our concierge medicine members have direct physician access around the clock.
  • Is this a better option than Brickell Hospital’s ER?
For non-life-threatening issues — sore throat, UTI, sprained ankle, stitches, sinus infection, flu, minor fracture, pediatric fever — urgent care is almost always the better choice. Wait times are shorter, the evaluation is equivalent, and the cost is a fraction of an ER visit. For genuine emergencies — chest pain, stroke symptoms, major trauma, severe allergic reactions, uncontrolled bleeding — go straight to Brickell Hospital or call 911. We also escalate to the ER from our clinic when findings warrant.
  • Do you accept my insurance?
Most major commercial plans and federal plans are accepted in-network: Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Oscar Health*, Medicare. Our front desk verifies benefits at check-in and explains your copay up front. Self-pay patients are welcome and receive a transparent published rate. If your plan is not listed, call ahead and we will verify eligibility before you drive down.
  • Can my child be seen here?
Yes. We see pediatric patients ages three months and up every day. Our pediatric urgent care handles fever, ear infection, pink eye, stomach bug, rash, asthma flares, minor injury, and sports physicals. Infants under three months with concerning symptoms are typically evaluated and referred to pediatric emergency care when warranted.
  • Do you have X-ray and labs on-site?
Yes. Digital X-ray reads in minutes for suspected fractures, pneumonia, or soft-tissue injury. On-site lab testing covers rapid strep, flu, COVID, and RSV panels, along with CBC, CMP, urinalysis, and pregnancy testing. Ultrasound is available bedside for abdominal, soft-tissue, and vascular questions. Everything is read the same visit.
  • Can I get IV fluids here?
Yes. Medical IV fluid therapy for dehydration, heat illness, migraine, vomiting, and post-viral recovery is available under physician supervision and is covered by most insurance when clinically indicated. Elective wellness IV therapy — Myers’ Cocktail, NAD+, Hangover Recovery, and others — is offered separately through our IV therapy service and is cash-pay.
  • How long is a typical visit?
Most Brickell-area patients are in and out in twenty to forty-five minutes. A simple illness visit with no imaging runs shorter; a visit that includes X-ray, multiple labs, and an IV takes longer. We prioritize a real physician evaluation over artificial throughput — but we do not drag visits out.
  • Do you do sports physicals, DOT, and immigration exams?
Yes. Same-day sports physicals for school and youth-league clearance, DOT physicals for commercial-driver certification, and immigration physicals (I-693) for USCIS applicants. Each has its own appointment pattern and paperwork workflow — most can be completed in a single visit.
  • I am visiting Brickell on vacation. Can I be seen?
Absolutely. Short-term visitors, tourists, snowbirds, and Brickell Mall shoppers make up a real share of our visit volume. Bring your insurance card if you have one — many out-of-state plans are processable. Self-pay is also straightforward with published pricing. If you are visiting from outside the US, our front desk handles international self-pay receipts that most foreign insurers reimburse against.
