The honest answer

Is TrufaMED a fit for Coral Gables?

TrufaMED is a boutique, physician-led walk-in clinic in Surfside, on the beach side of Miami-Dade. From Coral Gables it is about a 30-minute drive, so we are not your nearest urgent care. Gables residents make the trip when they want a board-certified physician on every shift, on-site digital X-ray, labs, ultrasound, and EKG read the same visit, and a quiet, unrushed experience that feels closer to a private practice than a chain. When the drive does not make sense, our physician-led telehealth handles many concerns the same day.

Two ways to be seen

Drive down, or stay home

A Coral Gables patient has options. Pick the one that fits the day.

Make the drive

For anything that needs hands-on care, imaging, or labs: a suspected fracture, a laceration that needs stitches, a fever in a child, a UTI, a respiratory illness that needs a chest film. Walk in seven days a week and have it diagnosed and treated in one visit. Many Gables patients also stop in when they are already up near Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, or Aventura.

Stay in the Gables

For concerns that do not need an in-person exam: medication refills, cold and flu symptoms, a rash you can show on camera, a minor UTI, or a follow-up. A board-certified physician sees you by video, seven days a week, for a flat $125 self-pay visit. Prescriptions go to your pharmacy before the call ends.

Everything in one visit

Full urgent care under one roof

Walk in for anything from a sudden fever to a suspected fracture. Every service below is available same-day, with no referral and no appointment.

Walk-in urgent care

Fever, flu, strep, sinus and ear infections, UTIs, allergic reactions, and minor injuries, diagnosed and treated in one visit under physician oversight.

Digital X-ray

On-site imaging for sprains, fractures, chest, ribs, and abdomen, read by a physician in about ten minutes. No outside referral, no second trip.

Lab testing

A CLIA-certified on-site lab: CBC, metabolic panel, strep, flu, COVID, RSV, mono, UTI, and pregnancy, with rapid same-day results.

Ultrasound and EKG

Point-of-care ultrasound for abdominal, pelvic, and soft-tissue imaging, plus a 12-lead EKG for cardiac evaluation, all on-site.

Medical IV therapy

Physician-ordered IV fluids for dehydration, heat illness, and post-viral recovery. An elective wellness IV menu is available separately, same day.

Pediatric urgent care

Walk-in care for children three months and up: ear infections, strep, fevers, minor injuries, and school and sports physicals, with physicians experienced with children.

Physicals and forms

Sports physicals, school forms, pre-employment, DOT, and immigration physicals, most completed in a single visit.

Same-day prescriptions

Antibiotics, antivirals, anti-nausea, and pain relief prescribed on the spot. We e-prescribe to any pharmacy in Miami-Dade County.

Why the drive

Why Coral Gables residents make the trip

The Gables is a community that notices the difference between a chain and a considered one. From Miracle Mile to the leafy streets off Old Cutler, residents are used to a higher standard, and they recognize it in how a clinic is run.

A physician, every shift

Every patient is evaluated by a board-certified physician, led by Dr. Uri Gedalia (General Surgery, FACS) and Dr. Shane D. Naidoo (Emergency Medicine), not a rotating roster of non-physician staff.

Hospital-grade accreditation

Joint Commission accreditation, the same independent body that accredits hospitals, audits our sterile technique, medication safety, and infection control. We are one of roughly eight accredited urgent cares nationwide.

Diagnostics read on-site

Digital X-ray, ultrasound, rapid respiratory panels, strep, flu, COVID, CBC, CMP, and urinalysis, all read the same visit. No outside imaging center, no waiting days for results.

A boutique setting

Private rooms, a quiet waiting area, and a physician who sits down. The experience is designed around the expectations of a design-conscious community, not a retail-chain efficiency metric.

Eight languages

Our team speaks eight languages, serving the international families and University of Miami community who pass through the Gables and the beaches alike.

A calmer, faster path

Once you are seen, most visits run about 23 minutes, a fraction of an emergency-room wait, and far less expensive for the same non-emergency care.

What to expect

A visit built to respect your time

The drive earns a different kind of visit. For patients used to a concierge standard, the feel is closer to a private medical practice than to a typical urgent care.

Check in

Walk in, or register online before you leave the Gables so your insurance and reason for visit are captured ahead of time. Most pre-registered patients are seen within minutes of arrival.

See the physician

A board-certified physician sits down, examines you, and orders any imaging or labs on the spot. Nothing is rushed, but nothing takes longer than it should.

Diagnostics, read on-site

X-ray reads in about ten minutes; rapid labs in 15 to 30. Your physician reviews the results with you the same visit, not days later by portal message.

Leave with a plan

Diagnosis, treatment, and any prescription sent to your pharmacy before you go. The full visit typically runs about 23 minutes once you are seen.

Conditions we treat

Same-day care for everything non-emergency

From a sudden fever to a suspected sprain, with a physician, on-site diagnostics, and same-day results.

Transparent self-pay

Clear pricing, no surprise bills

No insurance, or prefer to pay out of pocket? A self-pay visit starts at $195 for a physician evaluation, with add-ons priced up front, so you always know what to expect before you are seen.

Honest about our limits

When the emergency room is the right call

Urgent care covers most non-life-threatening illness and injury. A handful of symptoms belong at an emergency department, because the workup needed is beyond any urgent care’s scope. We will always tell you directly.

Life-threatening emergencies

For chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency department.

Major surgery

We do not perform inpatient surgery, cardiac procedures, or complex operations. We can evaluate you and refer you to the right surgical specialist.

Labor and delivery

We provide OB and GYN ultrasound imaging but do not deliver babies. Please contact your OB or a hospital labor and delivery unit.

Psychiatric emergencies

For a psychiatric crisis or suicidal thoughts, please call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to an emergency department.

When the picture is unclear, start with us. We triage at the door, escalate to the emergency room when the exam warrants it, and stabilize in the meantime.

Meet the physicians

Led by board-certified physicians

Our clinical leadership brings hospital-grade training in surgery and emergency medicine to a boutique walk-in setting.

Medical Director
Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, MD
Board-Certified Emergency Medicine

Dr. Naidoo leads the clinical team as Medical Director. Board-certified in emergency medicine, with deep expertise in adult and pediatric emergency care, trauma, and critical care. His training means even a routine walk-in is read by a physician who has handled the most acute situations.

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Uri Gedalia, MD, FACS
Board-Certified General Surgeon · Fellow, American College of Surgeons

Dr. Gedalia is TrufaMED’s Chief Medical Officer and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Board-certified in general surgery, with extensive experience in procedural medicine, wound care, and advanced diagnostics. He oversees clinical protocols across every TrufaMED service.

Meet the full clinical team

Coral Gables urgent care, answered

The questions Coral Gables patients ask our front desk most before making the drive.

How far is TrufaMED from Coral Gables?

Coral Gables is in inland southwest Miami-Dade, and our clinic is on the beach side at 9445 Harding Ave in Surfside. Plan on roughly a 30-minute drive, depending on where in the Gables you start and on traffic. We are honest about that distance: TrufaMED is not the closest urgent care to Miracle Mile, but Coral Gables residents make the drive for a quieter, physician-led, Joint Commission-accredited visit, or use us when they are already up near Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, or Aventura. For anything that does not need an in-person exam, our telehealth visits reach you wherever you are.

Is it worth driving from Coral Gables for urgent care?

It depends on what you want. For a routine walk-in, a closer clinic may suit you. Coral Gables patients choose TrufaMED when they want a board-certified physician on every shift, on-site digital X-ray, labs, ultrasound, and EKG read the same visit, and a calm, boutique setting rather than a crowded chain. For non-emergency issues it is also far less expensive and far faster than an emergency room. If you cannot make the drive, a telehealth visit can handle many concerns the same day.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Walk in any time during clinic hours, seven days a week: Monday to Friday 9 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM. You can also check in online before you leave the Gables so your insurance and reason for visit are captured ahead of time, which trims your front-desk wait once you arrive.

How much does an urgent care visit cost without insurance?

A self-pay urgent care visit starts at $195 for a physician evaluation. Common add-ons start from: digital X-ray $120, EKG $110, and a rapid strep or flu test $60. Your final cost depends on the services you need, and we share pricing up front, with no surprise billing. The full self-pay sheet is on our pricing page.

What insurance does TrufaMED accept?

We accept most major commercial and federal plans, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Oscar Health, and Medicare. We do not accept Tricare. Our front desk verifies your benefits at check-in and explains any copay before treatment begins. Self-pay patients are always welcome with transparent, upfront pricing. Call (305) 537-6396 to confirm your specific plan before you make the drive.

Who will see me at TrufaMED?

A board-certified physician leads every shift and is involved in your care, supported by experienced nurses. Our Medical Director is Dr. Shane D. Naidoo (Emergency Medicine) and our Chief Medical Officer is Dr. Uri Gedalia (General Surgery, FACS). That physician-led standard is part of what Joint Commission accreditation requires.

Can TrufaMED do X-rays and lab tests on-site?

Yes. We have a digital X-ray suite for sprains, fractures, and chest imaging, with physician interpretation in about ten minutes. Our CLIA-certified lab runs rapid strep, flu, RSV, COVID, mono, urinalysis, pregnancy, basic chemistry panels, and CBC on-site, with results in about 15 to 30 minutes. We also offer point-of-care ultrasound and a 12-lead EKG. That is why most visits finish in roughly 23 minutes once you are seen.

Can TrufaMED treat my child?

Yes. We provide pediatric urgent care for children three months and older: ear infections, strep throat, fever, cough, flu, minor injuries, rashes, pink eye, and UTIs. The clinic has pediatric-sized equipment and physicians experienced with children, so families get a real medical exam rather than a retail-clinic visit.

How do I decide between TrufaMED and an emergency room?

For non-life-threatening issues like infections, minor injuries, fevers, UTIs, sprains, and dehydration, urgent care is faster, calmer, and far less costly than an ER. Go to the nearest emergency department or call 911 for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, or uncontrolled bleeding. When the picture is unclear, our physicians triage you and escalate to the ER if the exam warrants it.

Does TrufaMED offer telehealth for Coral Gables patients?

Yes. Physician-led telehealth visits run seven days a week for concerns that do not need an in-person exam, such as medication refills, cold and flu symptoms, rash assessments, minor UTIs, and follow-ups. For Coral Gables residents who would rather not make the drive, it is often the most convenient option. Telehealth is a flat $125 self-pay visit. Book at trufamed.com/telehealth/ or call (305) 537-6396.
