Quick Answer

Where can Bay Harbor families walk in for urgent care?

TrufaMED at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside is a five-minute drive from anywhere on East Island or West Island — straight across the 96th Street bridge or via Kane Concourse. Walk in seven days a week. Every visit is led by a board-certified physician. Children ages three months and up are routinely treated.

Featured Answer

Bay Harbor Islands families — adults, children, older residents — use TrufaMED because a licensed physician examines every patient, because on-site labs and digital X-ray close the diagnosis in a single visit, and because the clinic is literally five minutes from the islands without going over the bridge to Miami. Pediatric care is a daily part of the practice. So is elder-friendly care.

Bay Harbor Families

The Closest Accredited Urgent Care to Kane Concourse

Bay Harbor Islands is a small, affluent, family-driven island community — two landscaped islands connected to Miami Beach by the 96th Street Bridge and to Bal Harbour by Broad Causeway. Medical needs here skew toward pediatric visits, elder care, and the seasonal illness cycle of a close-knit community. Our clinic is built for exactly that mix.

Pediatric Urgent Care as a Daily Standard

Bay Harbor Islands has one of the highest per-capita concentrations of young families in North Miami-Dade. Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center draws children from across the islands and the surrounding communities. Daily pediatric visits at TrufaMED include ear infections, strep throat, stomach flu, RSV, influenza, asthma exacerbations, minor lacerations, sports injuries, and fevers. Our physicians treat children with the same senior-level clinical attention they give adults — a board-certified MD examines every child, no matter how routine the complaint looks. See our pediatric urgent care page for full scope.

Kane Concourse & Broad Causeway Access

From East Island or West Island, the drive to 9445 Harding Avenue takes approximately five minutes. The fastest route is Kane Concourse west to Harding Avenue, then south through Bal Harbour into Surfside — a single straight-line corridor, no freeway, no toll. For residents west of Broad Causeway Boulevard, the drive is even shorter. Our clinic is closer, measured door-to-door, than any accredited urgent care in the Miami Beach or Aventura corridor.

Care for Long-Time Residents

Bay Harbor Islands has a large population of long-time residents, many of whom are older, many of whom have lived in the same building or on the same street for decades. For these patients, a clinic experience matters as much as the clinical care. Quiet waiting room. No assembly-line check-in. A physician who sits down and listens. Medication reconciliation done by a pharmacist-trained nurse. Discharge instructions in writing, in large print on request, and in Spanish or another language spoken in the home. Families who care for elderly parents tell us this is the difference.

Jewish Community & Kosher-Aware Care

A significant portion of Bay Harbor Islands’ population is Jewish, and many households observe kashrut and Shabbat. Our clinic operates every day of the week, including Saturdays until 11 PM, for after-sundown visits when necessary. Medication instructions consider kosher formulation when the patient or family asks. Staff members are familiar with the cultural patterns of the community, which shows in how care is delivered.

What We Treat

Family Conditions We Handle Same Visit

A physician examines, diagnoses, and treats the great majority of the problems on this list in a single walk-in appointment — for children, adults, and older patients — including the labs, imaging, or IV therapy the treatment requires.

For ongoing care between visits, see our Bay Harbor Islands concierge membership. For elective IV therapy — hangover recovery, immune support, beauty drips — see Bay Harbor IV therapy.

Ages We Serve

Pediatric and Older-Adult Care in One Clinic

Bay Harbor Islands is a community of three generations living side by side. Our clinic is built to handle pediatric urgent care, middle-adult visits, and older-adult care under the same roof, with a physician-level exam every time.

Pediatric Urgent Care

Children 3 months and up seen routinely. Ear infection, strep, stomach flu, RSV, asthma, rashes, minor injuries, sports physicals. Board-certified physician examines every child.

Elder-Friendly Exam

Slower-paced intake, medication reconciliation, hearing-friendly communication, large-print discharge instructions on request. We sit with older patients, not rush them.

School Physicals & Immunizations

Sports physicals and school entry forms completed same visit. Flu shot, COVID update, and routine vaccines available when age-appropriate.

Falls & Fractures

On-site digital X-ray resolves the question within fifteen minutes. Splinting, casting, and follow-up referral handled in clinic, without a separate trip to an imaging center.

Dehydration & Heat Illness

Older adults and children are both vulnerable in Miami’s summer months. Physician-supervised IV fluids, active cooling when needed, and safe discharge criteria.

Shabbat-Friendly Scheduling

Open Saturday until 11 PM for after-sundown visits when Shabbat observance makes daytime care inconvenient. Sunday hours noon to 8 PM.

Capabilities

What We Can Finish In One Visit

Every capability below is physically on-site at 9445 Harding Avenue, a five-minute drive from East Island, West Island, and Kane Concourse. No split visits. No referrals across town. No waiting three days for an outside lab.

Capability On-Site Detail Time to Result
Physician exam Board-certified MD on shift every hour. Dr. Uri Gedalia, General Surgery. Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, Emergency Medicine. On arrival
Digital X-ray On-site, in-house read within the clinic. Pediatric through geriatric. ~15 minutes
Ultrasound Point-of-care musculoskeletal, soft-tissue, abdominal ultrasound. Same visit
Lab draw CLIA-certified . CBC, CMP, strep, flu, RSV, COVID, urine, STI, inflammatory markers, kidney function. 5 to 30 minutes
IV therapy Medical IV (insurance when indicated) plus elective wellness IV on request. 45 to 90 minutes
Laceration repair Sterile suturing, Dermabond, or staples. Pediatric through adult. Topical anesthetic first for children. <45 minutes typical
Casting & splinting Short-arm and short-leg splints, orthopedic referral when follow-up is needed. Same visit
Prescriptions Sent electronically to Bal Harbour Publix, Walgreens, CVS, or any pharmacy you choose. On discharge

If the clinical picture on arrival already points to an emergency — chest pain with concerning features, suspected stroke, head injury with loss of consciousness — we stabilize and transfer to Mount Sinai or Aventura Hospital. This is infrequent. The great majority of Bay Harbor Islands urgent care visits are resolved in the clinic.

Physician-Led

A Licensed Physician Examines You or Your Child

Every TrufaMED visit is led by a board-certified physician — pediatric visits included. This is not the industry norm. Many urgent care chains operate with non-physician providers leading every visit. Ours do not.

Dr. Uri Gedalia, MD — Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Gedalia is a board-certified General Surgeon. He designed the clinical protocols and continues to practice clinically on-site. Read his physician bio.

Dr. Shane D. Naidoo, MD — Medical Director

Dr. Naidoo is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician. He runs the clinical floor day to day, supervises the medical staff, and handles the highest-acuity cases that walk in from Bay Harbor, Bal Harbour, and Miami Beach. Read his physician bio.

Pediatric Care, Not as an Afterthought

A meaningful portion of Bay Harbor Islands visits are pediatric. Our physicians treat children as the primary patient of the visit, not as an add-on. Pediatric-weight-based dosing. Topical anesthetic before sutures. Parent-inclusive exam. Age-appropriate conversation. Caregivers frequently comment that TrufaMED feels closer to a pediatrician’s office than to a walk-in urgent care — with the tradeoff that same-visit X-ray, labs, and IV therapy remain available.

Accreditation, Not Advertising

Joint Commission accreditation is earned by passing the same audit standards that accredit hospitals. Florida has one accredited urgent care; we are it. For parents who care about where their child is treated, this is the shortest explanation of the difference.

Why TrufaMED

Six Reasons Bay Harbor Families Choose TrufaMED

A boutique medical clinic with the diagnostic capabilities of a small hospital, five minutes off the 96th Street Bridge. These are the six reasons Bay Harbor families make us their default.

01 · Proximity

Five Minutes from Kane Concourse

Kane Concourse west to Harding Avenue south puts you at our front door in roughly five minutes. No freeway, no toll, no confusing route — straight through Bal Harbour into Surfside.

02 · Accreditation

Joint Commission Standard

The same audit body that accredits hospitals audits our sterile technique, medication safety, infection control, and documentation. Florida has one Joint Commission-accredited urgent care.

03 · Physicians

Every Visit Has a Physician

Board-certified MD on shift every hour — for adult visits, pediatric visits, and elder visits. Not a medical assistant. Not a mid-level with remote coverage. A licensed physician is the person examining you or your child.

04 · Pediatric Focus

Child-Friendly Clinic

Pediatric-weight dosing, topical anesthetic before sutures, parent-inclusive exam, and age-appropriate communication. A daily pediatric practice, not an add-on.

05 · Capabilities

X-ray, Lab, IV — All On-Site

Digital X-ray, ultrasound, Joint Commission–accredited, CLIA-certified lab, in-clinic IV therapy. Most visits finish diagnosis, treatment, and prescription in one appointment.

06 · Elder-Friendly

Time to Listen

Slower-paced intake for older patients, medication reconciliation, large-print discharge instructions, and language-matched communication. Dignity and clarity, every visit.

ER vs Urgent Care

When to Skip Urgent Care and Go Straight to the ER

Most problems are urgent-care level. Some are not. The findings below are reasons to bypass us and go directly to Mount Sinai Miami Beach, Aventura Hospital, or call 911.

Go to the ER or call 911 for:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness — especially with shortness of breath, arm pain, or sweating
  • Sudden neurological change — facial droop, weakness on one side, speech difficulty, severe confusion
  • Severe shortness of breath at rest or with minimal exertion
  • Head injury with loss of consciousness, vomiting, or confusion
  • Heavy bleeding that does not stop with pressure
  • Severe abdominal pain with guarding, rigidity, or rebound
  • Suspected stroke, heart attack, or pulmonary embolism
  • Infant under 3 months with high fever, lethargy, or severe illness

If you are unsure, walk in. We triage on arrival. If the findings warrant the ER, we stabilize and arrange transfer — frequently to Mount Sinai Miami Beach, five minutes south, or Aventura Hospital, fifteen minutes north.

Frequently Asked

Bay Harbor Urgent Care Questions

The questions our team answers most often when Bay Harbor Islands parents, residents, and caregivers call ahead or walk in.

  • What is the closest urgent care to Bay Harbor Islands?
TrufaMED at 9445 Harding Avenue in Surfside is the closest physician-led urgent care to Bay Harbor Islands. The drive is approximately five minutes west on Kane Concourse, then south on Harding Avenue through Bal Harbour. Every visit is led by a board-certified physician, and most cases are resolved in a single walk-in appointment, including X-ray, lab, and IV therapy when indicated.
  • Do you see children?
Yes. Pediatric care is a daily part of our practice. We see children three months and older routinely — ear infections, strep throat, stomach flu, RSV, asthma exacerbations, rashes, minor injuries, sports injuries, fevers, and school-physical visits. A board-certified physician examines every child. For specifics, see our pediatric urgent care page.
  • Do you handle older adults?
Yes, and the clinic is designed with them in mind. Slower-paced intake, a physician who sits and listens rather than rushing, medication reconciliation by a pharmacist-trained nurse, large-print discharge instructions on request, and language-matched communication when a family member needs to explain history. We see elderly patients every day.
  • Is TrufaMED walk-in or do I need an appointment?
Walk-in, seven days a week. No appointment required. An online patient portal is available to reserve your place in line. Hours: Monday through Friday 9 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM, Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM. Saturday late-hour coverage is used frequently by families who observe Shabbat.
  • Is the clinic open Saturday night?
Yes. We are open Saturday until 11 PM. This matters for Bay Harbor families who observe Shabbat and prefer to be seen after sundown, as well as for weekend illness that worsens in the evening. Sunday hours are 12 PM to 8 PM.
  • Do you do school and sports physicals?
Yes. Sports physicals and school-entry forms are completed same visit for pediatric patients, including Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center students and Miami-Dade County Public Schools athletes. Cost is transparent and no appointment is required — though reserving a slot online reduces wait time. See our sports physicals page.
  • Can I get a flu shot or COVID update here?
Yes, when age-appropriate and seasonally available. Flu vaccines, COVID boosters, and selected routine immunizations are offered alongside a standard urgent care visit. For children, immunization schedules are followed in line with CDC and AAP guidance.
  • Do you do X-rays for suspected fractures?
Yes. Digital X-ray is on-site with in-house read inside the clinic. Results within approximately fifteen minutes. If the X-ray shows a non-displaced fracture, we splint or cast same visit. If the fracture requires orthopedic follow-up, we facilitate a direct referral.
  • What insurance do you accept?
Most major US plans: Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Oscar Health*, Medicare. Self-pay patients are welcome with transparent pricing quoted at check-in. Billing questions are handled at the front desk before services are rendered.
  • Do you speak Hebrew, Russian, or Spanish?
Yes. Our clinical team speaks English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Italian, French, and Creole. History-taking, physical exam explanation, medication instructions, and discharge planning happen in your preferred language, not through a translation line.
  • Can I get IV fluids here?
Yes. In-clinic IV therapy is available every day we are open. Medical IV — for dehydration, vomiting, heat illness, migraine — is typically covered by insurance as part of a standard urgent care visit. Elective wellness IV drips are cash-pay with transparent pricing. See our Bay Harbor IV therapy page for the elective menu.
  • How much does a self-pay visit cost?
Self-pay pricing is quoted transparently at check-in and depends on what the visit includes. Standard physician visit, visit with imaging, visit with labs, and visit with IV therapy each have a published rate. No surprise billing. See our self-pay guide for full details.
